Our HistoryASGA was formed in the early 1980s when Alaska residents experimenting with suspended oyster culture hit a confusing wall of government permits. Realizing that a unified voice was necessary to navigate these bureaucratic challenges, these pioneers formed the Alaska Shellfish Growers Association. Today, ASGA is a private nonprofit representing over 35 shellfish farmers across the state. We have grown to include over 130 supporting members, including business sponsors and allied organizations, all dedicated to turning mariculture challenges into opportunities. Our Core Pillars
Join the Association Your input is important. ASGA is your advocate on key issues, working with local, state, and national partners to define the policies and regulations that affect your shellfish business. Our membership currently consists of bona fide shellfish growers, harvesters, owner/operators, employees, and processors. Whether you are a farmer, a nursery operator, or a supporting business, we invite you to help us define the future of Alaska shellfish. |
